Ben practises commercial litigation, class actions, and regulatory law. He joined Olthuis van Ert after practising at two large national firms and completing a clerkship at the British Columbia Supreme Court.

YG Limited Partnership and YSL Residences (Re), 2021 ONSC 5206: Ben was junior counsel for Concord Properties in its successful proposal sponsorship and acquisition of the development now known as Concord Sky.
Ben acts for both defendants and plaintiffs in class proceedings brought in British Columbia.
Selected case
Rorison v. Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, 2023 BCCA 474: Ben juniored Gib van Ert in this successful appeal, and subsequent certification of a class proceeding, arising out of an alleged unconstitutional tax in the form of inflated motor vehicle insurance premiums. Ben handled the plaintiffs’ response to ICBC’s cross-appeal, which was dismissed.
Ben acts for both professional regulators and regulated professionals in disciplinary proceedings.
Selected case
Ben acted for a prominent Vancouver-based lawyer facing allegations of improper use of a trust account. The lawyer avoided a public citation or sanction.
Ben attended the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where he won prizes for oral and written advocacy, contract law, securities regulation, and overall academic achievement.
