Danny’s experience includes Aboriginal, class action, competition, construction, contract, estates, fraud, insolvency, intellectual property, pension, product liability, real estate, and securities litigation. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia and Ontario, as well as in Federal Court. He also appears before a variety of regulators.

Many of Danny’s clients are involved in commercial or business disputes. These include contract disputes, insolvency, shareholder oppression, director liability, and corporate governance matters. He has advised public companies, private companies, charities and trusts as well as their directors and officers.

Shepherd v Lundin Gold Inc., 2020 BCSC 258: counsel for the defendant mining consortium in trial of an alleged finder’s fee agreement related to the acquisition of a gold mining project.
The Catalyst Capital Group Inc. v. VimpelCom Ltd., 2019 ONCA 354: counsel for a European telecommunications company in a billion-dollar breach of contract and breach of confidence claim following an unsuccessful transaction.
OPFFA v. Paul Atkinson et al, 2018 ONSC 2681: counsel for the plaintiff in various interlocutory and injunctive proceedings related to the alleged misappropriation of funds intended for family members of deceased firefighters.
Cole v. RBC Dominion Securities Inc., 2017 ONCA 1009: counsel for a financial institution in an appeal related to the conditional discharge from bankruptcy of an investment advisor who misappropriated funds from his clients.
Danny has also acted for financial institutions in unreported decisions appointing receivers over insolvent or high-risk businesses.
Danny frequently acts for regulators and regulated persons. He has considerable experience before provincial securities commissions and the B.C. Financial Services Tribunal. He has also advised clients before and professional regulators, agricultural marketing boards, and environmental regulators.

Multicultural Consultancy Canada Inc. v. Central 1 Credit Union, 2022 ONSC 5293: counsel for BC Financial Services Authority in abuse of process proceedings to dismiss a claim that federal and provincial financial regulators failed to properly regulate a financial institution.
R v. Zora, 2020 SCC 14: counsel for the intervenor BC Civil Liberties Association in appeal related to whether a subjective mens rea applies to the offence of breaching a condition of an undertaking, recognizance or order.
